Katherine is deeply committed to safeguarding the rights of consumers and injured people. Practicing primarily in the area of class actions, Katherine has experience representing plaintiffs across Canada in complex product liability, privacy, competition, and securities litigation. Prior to joining RPLE, Katherine began her practice at a leading plaintiff-side class action firm in Toronto, where she worked on precedent-setting cases related to pharmaceuticals, price-fixing, and pesticides. She has appeared as counsel at all levels of court in Ontario and British Columbia.
Katherine’s products practice includes the class actions against Pfizer on behalf of women who developed brain tumours after receiving Depo-Provera; against manufacturers of PFAS in relation to allegations of environmental contamination with forever chemicals; and against FCA concerning their plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
More recently, Katherine has focused on litigations affecting youth. She is currently part of the team prosecuting claims against JUUL on behalf of those harmed by the vaping crisis, and her work includes cases against social media giants Meta and TikTok.
She has long been interested in how court decisions shape not only legal precedent, but also impact legislative reform and drive broader social change. With a background in biochemistry, she brings rigorous scientific analysis into her litigation work and partners with technical experts to help courts understand how products or devices may cause harm. One of her most memorable cases is against Syngenta, involving allegations linking its paraquat-containing herbicides to Parkinson’s disease; the action was successfully certified in British Columbia and helped to raise public awareness of the alleged harms. Through her work, she ultimately seeks to highlight the need for stronger consumer protection.
Katherine has also been involved in a variety of community initiatives, including assisting with the Osgoode Hall Investor Protection Clinic and the Winkler Class Actions Moot. In law school, she volunteered extensively with Downtown Legal Services, a community legal clinic advocating on behalf of tenants. Before law school, Katherine worked as a researcher with the Department of Biochemistry at Western University, focusing on gene-editing tools and computational technologies.
