Rice Parsons Leoni & Elliott LLP is litigating a class action lawsuit in the Supreme Court of British Columbia against JUUL Labs, Inc., JUUL Labs Canada Ltd. and Altria Group, Inc. about the deceptive marketing of JUUL’s e-cigarette products.
The Plaintiff alleges that the defendants failed to properly inform Canadians, especially young adolescents and adults, of the dangers associated with the use of JUUL products. The class action seeks to represent all persons in Canada who have purchased and used JUUL e-cigarettes.
Developments in the British Columbia Class Action:
By decision dated July 15, 2026, the action was certified as a national class proceeding.
The British Columbia Court has defined the class to include all persons resident in Canada (except Excluded Persons*) who used and directly or indirectly purchased JUUL Devices or JUUL Pods in Canada for purposes that were primarily personal, during the period from August 1, 2018 to July 15, 2026.
* Excluded from the class are (1) the Defendants and their officers and directors; and (2) the heirs, successors and assigns of the persons described in (1).
