CLAIM DETAILS
Rice Parsons Leoni & Elliott LLP has filed a proposed class action lawsuit against FCA Canada Inc. and FCA US LLC on behalf of Canadians who are former or current owners or lessees of vehicles equipped with the following engines, which were marketed as “Tigershark” or “Turbo” engines:
- the 2.4L I4 Multiair Engine (Sales Code ED6)
- 4L I4 PZEV Multiair Engine (Sales Code ED8)
- 4L I4 PZEV Multiair Engine w/ESS (Sales Code EDE), and
- 4L I4 Multiair Engine w/ESS (Sales Code ED)
The vehicles that may be equipped with these engines are the following:
| Model Year | Model |
| 2015-2017 | Chrysler 200 |
| 2013-2016 | Dodge Dart |
| 2014-2020 | Jeep Cherokee |
| 2015-2020 | Jeep Renegade |
| 2015-2020 | RAM ProMaster City |
| 2017-2020 | Jeep Compass |
| 2016-2020 | Fiat 500X |
This action alleges that vehicles that are equipped with the engines suffer from a dangerous defect that causes the engine to consume excess oil, which can lead to a sudden and dangerous vehicle stall in ordinary driving conditions. Due to FCA’s actions, Canadians ended up with a product with significant safety risks that was negligently designed and deceptively marketed to them.
CURRENT STATUS
The certification hearing is scheduled for five days beginning May 11, 2026.
